Storm Emergency Command Center Update, 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11

To All UMMC Employees:

As of 6:30 this morning, staff members no longer need to remain on site in order to ensure adequate staffing. With the approval of their manager staff members who are:

are welcome to leave. We are extremely grateful for their help and dedication through this second extraordinary storm.

The City of Baltimore is now in Phase II of the snow emergency plan. Non-emergency vehicles will be permitted to drive on city roads. Under Phase II, parking is prohibited along designated Snow Emergency Routes in order to facilitate snow plowing and removal. Mass transit is not yet operating in the region.

The conditions on main roads are continuing to improve; most side streets remain covered with snow and ice. We urge you to use caution. Staff choosing to leave should call home to find out if your area is accessible. Consider participating in the ride sharing program by bringing in or taking home employees who live in your area. Please contact Transportation at 8-3592.

Those who wish to stay until the driving conditions improve are welcome to do that. We will continue to provide accommodations and food.

For those individuals who are scheduled to work on Thursday and Friday and wish to stay over at the hospital, we will continue to compensate you according to HR policy 408. If you decide to go home, please be sure that you will be able to return for your next scheduled shift.
