University of Maryland School of Medicine, the Department of Orthopaedics and Epidemiology are hosting the International Pulmonary Embolism After Hip and Knee Arthroplasty Workshop, Balancing Safety, Efficacy, and Cost - How do we get there from here?, on November 17 & 18, 2011 at the Southern Management Center, Ballroom A. This is an international think tank devoted to addressing the controversy of venous thromboembolism prophylaxis after total joint replacement of the hip and knee.

Grand Rounds will be held on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 a.m. Attendance is mandatory. Organization of these sessions and invitation of visiting speakers will be the direct responsibility of the Academic Chief Resident. After each Grand Rounds lecture, the residents will present cases to the visiting speaker for one hour. Each case should be reviewed with the appropriate faculty member before being presented to the grand rounds speaker. Additional scheduled conferences are noted below.
