Following a treatment plan:
After a comprehensive evaluation of the disorder, the orthopaedist will make recommendations for the treatment plan. For most orthopaedic disorders and injuries there is more than one form of treatment, and the treatment plan may involve a combination or progression of several.

Initial treatment may involve:

  • rest
  • medical counseling
  • medication
  • immobilization
  • physical therapy
  • exercise
  • activity modifications
  • a combination of these methods

Additional treatment may include:

  • casts
  • splints
  • procedures, such as arthroscopy
  • surgery, such as joint replacement
