Pastoral Care Services

Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday services will be held on February 13, 2013. The Department of Pastoral Care at the University of Maryland Medical Center will offer the following services to patients and staff:

Worship Services

Protestant Service Schedule:

11:00 a.m.
1:00 p.m.

Catholic Mass Schedule:

11:30 a.m.
12:00 p.m.
12:30 p.m.

All worship services are twenty minutes in length, include distribution of ashes, and are held in the Chapel of Comfort, located on the 1st Floor of the Weinberg Building. Services are also televised LIVE on Chapel Channel 47.

Staff Services

Chaplains will be in the chapel to distribute ashes to UMMC staff members during shift changes at the following times:

5:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
10:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

Distribution of ashes during shift changes will be continuous. Printed programs are available for private devotion.

Due to the reflective nature of this Christian holy day and for infection preventive reasons, staff are asked to receive their ashes in the chapel.

Patient Services

Chaplains will distribute ashes to patients on patient care units throughout the day and evening.
