Surgical Pathology Fellowship

The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) offers a one-year fellowship in surgical pathology. Located minutes from the Baltimore Orioles Stadium at Camden Yards and the multiple award-winning Inner Harbor, the focal point of UMMS is a well-occupied 568-bed hospital.

The surgical workload consists of around 14,000 cases annually, and is especially strong in transplantation, breast, genito-urinary, gynecologic, head and neck, pulmonary, neuromuscular, and hematopathology, with special faculty expertise in these and other specialty areas.

Numerous outside consultation cases are seen first by the fellow. Opportunities exist for elective rotations at the National Institutes of Health and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, as well as in other areas of the Department of Pathology at UMMS.
