Thyroidectomy - series - Indications

Indications:

Thyroidectomy may be recommended for:

Increased thyroid function (hyperthyroidism; thyrotoxicosis)
Decreased thyroid function (hypothyroidism) with enlargement (hypertrophy) of the gland
Primary cancer of the thyroid
Enlargement of the thyroid (nontoxic goiter)
