Child Life Internship

Thank you for your interest in the Child Life internship program at the University of Maryland Hospital for Children. The 15-week internship is offered three times a year and provides the learner with supervised, guided experience with children while supporting the development of professional child life skills. This internship is best suited for college seniors, college graduates or Master’s degree students pursuing graduate study relevant to child life work. Appropriate fields of study and experience include child life, child development, education, family studies, or related fields. Experience with children is a prerequisite. Interns are also strongly encouraged to become a member of the Child Life Council if they have not done so already. For more information on membership, go to www.childlife.org.

Interns choose two units where they will spend seven weeks each and work to become an integral part of the team on these units. Interns start with one week of orientation to the hospital and the Child Life Program. The student's clinical supervisor, along with other child life team members, provides instruction and guidance.
