A little bit about myself...
Hi everyone, I’m Dawn, one of the current second years. I’m from Chicago originally, went to undergrad in Colorado, lived in San Francisco for a year before med school doing human rights work, and then went back home to Chicago for med school at Loyola University. I chose Maryland med-peds for residency mostly because of the people, and I have not been disappointed. The residents here are a wonderful group of fun, interesting, hard-working people who make being at work so much more enjoyable. Unlike many other residents, I had never been to the state of Maryland before coming to my interview. I have to admit it was very hard leaving Chicago, but I have been pleasantly surprised at all Baltimore has to offer. In whatever spare time I have, I enjoy cooking, eating good vegetarian food, going to museums, hiking, snowboarding, reading, and traveling. In terms of my career interests, I still don’t have any idea what I’ll be doing after residency.
I am very interested in international medicine/underserved medicine and have spent a little time prior to residency doing medical work in India and Latin America. At this point I’m interested in being a hospitalist, but I still really have no idea and am open to many possibilities. I guess that’s pretty much it for me--if I can answer any questions please feel free to email.
