A little bit about myself...

Hi! I was born in Durham, North Carolina, but am NOT a Duke fan! Some of my formative years were spent in NC while my Dad was completing his post-doc training at UNC-Chapel Hill, so I unfortunately was routing for the Tar Heels for a good 10 years, even after we moved to Maryland at the age of 6 (after a few years in Albany, NY also) silly me. However, my friends eventually convinced me to see the light, and I decided to attend college at University of Maryland, College Park- it's a good thing too, as they became ACC champs while I was there- woohoo! Oh, I also set some time aside from college basketball to major in microbiology while I was there - and then decided to take a somewhat different route in my application process for medical school. I spent my last two years of undergrad at the Department of Medical and Research Technology, and became a certified medical technologist- I'm so glad I made this decision- it has definitely helped me in my career. If you have any questions about my unique track, please feel free to ask!

I kept the Maryland theme going and attended University of Maryland for medical school, also hoping that my close proximity to Camden Yards would have some effect on the Orioles' tendency toward losing seasons - alas, to no avail. However, I did have a fabulous four years at UMB and at the same time, found several parts of good ol' Bmore that have become some of my favorite places to go and eat or hang out- and I'm happy to share those places with anyone that asks. But, silly Jenny decided she wanted to branch off of the east coast- and I matched in Cleveland (at Case Western) for med peds. I had a great intern year, but felt that a part of me (my boyfriend and family back home) was missing, and then I remembered the main reason that I chose med peds- the med peds residents at University of Maryland! Luckily, they were kind enough to take me back, and here I am! I'm so happy and privileged to be a part of this fabulous program.

Besides routing for the Orioles and Terps, in my spare time, I love exploring new restaurants- as long as they have veggie options - especially Indian vegetarian, my personal favorite. I might even cook some for you, but you'd have to be feeling particularly adventurous for that. I also enjoy hiking, camping, bird and whale watching- all activities which are easily accessible in Maryland!

I'm still deciding what I want to do after residency- right now, I'm deciding between med peds hospitalist and a (combined) fellowship in infectious disease or hematology-oncology. Ask me, and I'll explain my rationale behind each decision - maybe you can help me decide!
