Professional sports fans are busy year 'round with Orioles baseball -- at our nationally acclaimed stadium at historic Camden Yards. Our NFL team, the Ravens along with a new football stadium, is another source of excitement. Just down the road, the play continues with Washington Wizards basketball and Washington Redskins football.
The area features many top-notch semi-pro and collegiate teams, as well. And Maryland has long been hunt and horseracing country, with the Preakness a special Baltimore event.
For those who prefer to participate, proximity to the Chesapeake Bay, Eastern Shore beach resorts and the Appalachian Mountains makes Baltimore an excellent home base from which to sail, swim, bike and ski.
Baltimore's location makes "getting away from it all" a breeze. Within a short drive are historic Annapolis, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia. Along the way are scores of quaint towns and lovely rural landscapes. By train, New York and Boston are easily accessible. Williamsburg, the national seashore at Assateague Island, and the Appalachian Trail are all less than a day away.
