A little bit about myself...
I am a Jersey girl taking some pit stops along the way until I ultimately settle down in New Jersey again.
I came through Boston University's seven-year program in conjunction with New Jersey Medical School. I was fortunate to spend some time living/backpacking in Australia and New Zealand before medical school. I caught the travel bug there and continued backpacking during medical school to Panama, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.
I was also lucky enough to meet my wonderful husband, Dan, in medical school. Let's just say I loved him enough to trade my one syllable maiden name (Shah) for his last name (Boutsikaris) - go ahead try to pronounce it! We couples matched together at UMMC, where he is pursuing the EM/IM/CC program and I am pursuing a career in Peds.
We both had similar goals to train in a well-known inner city hospital for the "experience factor" coupled with the opportunity to contribute to Baltimore's community. The city life is perfect for a night out, while the outdoors scene is a hop skip and jump away. My favorite so far has been camping on the beaches of Assateague Island. There are wild ponies (and their poop) everywhere! More importantly, we are still excited to find out what else we will discover in and around Baltimore.
