Cleft Lip and Palate

The University of Maryland offers specialized care for children diagnosed with cleft lip and palate and other congenital abnormalities.

Counseling for parents is offered even prior to birth to help parents understand what to expect. Dr. Ronald Silverman’s unique training from Harvard University’s giants in the field of pediatric plastic surgery (Drs. Michael Lewis and John Mullikan) allows for some of the best care in the nation.

Postoperative care is provided in a multidisciplinary cleft palate clinic based at Kernan Hospital, which is one of the member hospitals in the University of Maryland Medical System.
