Schizophrenia is a complex and puzzling mental disorder that makes it difficult for a person to tell the difference between real and unreal experiences, to think logically, to have normal emotional responses to others, and to behave normally in social situations. Experts in the field are not exactly sure what causes schizophrenia, but some doctors think it prevents the brain from processing information correctly.
In this Medically Speaking podcast with Becky Ceraul, Dr. Anthony Lehman, a psychiatrist at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the University of Maryland Medical Center discusses the symptoms and treatments for schizophrenia and dispels some common myths about the disorder.
