While most people report feeling sad, blue, unhappy or down in the dumps on occasion, true clinical depression is a mood disorder in which feelings of sadness, loss and anger interfere with everyday life. Clinical depression affects 14-16 million Americans.

In this interview, Dr. Hinda Dubin, a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and a psychiatrist at the University of Maryland Medical Center, talks with Becky Ceraul about depression -- its symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options.
