Overview: Prostate enlargement is very common among men as they get older. The condition, known as benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH, causes a range of symptoms, from mild to severe. However, there are many effective treatment options, including medications and minimally invasive procedures.
In this Medically Speaking podcast, Dr. Michael Naslund, chief of Urology at the University of Maryland Medical Center, describes prostate enlargement symptoms and the different treatments. Speaking with Ellen Beth Levitt, Dr. Naslund, who is also a professor of surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, explains why men with symptoms of BPH should see their doctor.
