Overview:
Pregnant women know that what they put into their bodies affects their unborn babies, and there are all kinds of warnings for them about the dangers of smoking, alcohol and certain foods. But what happens when that pregnant mother has used illegal drugs?

In this edition of Medically Speaking, Dr. Mishka Terplan, an OB/GYN at the University of Maryland Medical Center, talks about the effects of illegal drug use during pregnancy, such as risks to a mother who seeks out illicit drugs to possible birth defects in the baby. Dr. Terplan is also assistant professor of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
