Post-Acute Services

Shock Trauma Inpatient Rehabilitation Program

Rehabilitation begins upon entry to the Shock Trauma Center. Even the most critically injured patients are evaluated and therapy is initiated within days of injury.

Services are provided daily while in the intensive care unit and increased to twice daily as the patient's medical condition improves. Equipment and supplies to improve the patient's level of functioning are provided. Family teaching and training are included. Rehabilitation nurses provide clinical evaluations to determine appropriate services after discharge from the Shock Trauma Center. Orthopaedic patients, including amputees, are followed up in clinics and services are reassessed and appropriate recommendations are made.
