Model searches for the 2013 American Girl Fashion Show® will be held on the following dates:
- Saturday, January 12, 2013 from 12pm-2pm at The Mall in Columbia
- Sunday, January 13, 2013 from 12pm-2pm at White Marsh Mall
- Saturday, January 19, 2013 from 12pm-2pm at Towson Town Center

MODEL SEARCH INFORMATION
Cool Kids Campaign and University of Maryland Children's Hospital are seeking approximately 225 girls to model historical and contemporary fashions during four fashion shows to be held in March 2013.
MODEL CRITERIA AND REQUIREMENTS
Girls must be age 5 or older. The fashions worn during the actual Fashion Show will be provided by American Girl® Programs and are sizes 6x and 10. Size 6x girls (48" height) will model Bitty Baby® clothing.
All girls must attend a costume fitting prior to receive their assigned costume.
All girls will be required to attend a mandatory Model Camp for rehearsals on March 16 or 17 at Towson University Marriott. Model Camp times to be sent at a later date.
Each girl will model one outfit in one show.
Models must fit a size 6x (Bitty Baby Outfits) or size 10 (Historical, Just Like Me® outfits and sleepwear). See size chart below for measurements.
Models must be able a dress rehearsal and her assigned show.
Models may be required to supply footwear and accessories depending on her costume.
Models must be able to be away from parents for three hours (one hour before the show and during the two-hour performance) and feel comfortable walking a runway in front of 300 people.
HOW ARE THE MODELS SELECTED?
Every girl must attend a model search to be considered. American Girl® Programs provides the clothing for the show and specific measurements for each outfit. Your child will be selected based on measurements. GIRLS MAY NOT SELECT THE OUTFIT THEY MODEL. Event hosts will select the girls who best fit each outfit. Please let your child know that this is not a pageant. Models will not be chosen based on talent or appearance, only size and in some cases, likeness to the dolls according to each outfit in the show.
All girls size 6x (48" height) will model American Girl Bitty Baby® clothing. These girls will be selected primarily on measurements.
Girls size 10 (56" height) may also be selected to wear historical and contemporary sleepwear.
WHEN WILL THE MODELS BE SELECTED?
Girls will be selected after the model searches. No decisions will be made during any model searches. Event hosts will notify every participating parent/guardian by email with their child's status by February 1, 2013.
IF YOUR CHILD IS SELECTED TO MODEL IN THE FASHION SHOW:
She will be required to attend a fitting to receive her assigned costume. Models do not get to choose their costumes.
She is required to attend a MANDATORY Model Camp on March 16 or 17 at the Towson University Marriott. At the Model Camp, girls will have rehearsal and learn what to expect on the day of the Fashion Show. At the same time, parents will also attend a mandatory information session on what to expect the day of the Fashion Show.
For Model Camp, dress rehearsal and the show, parents will drop off their models, and event volunteers will help get her in costume and prepared for the event.
Your child will not need to purchase a ticket to the show because she will be backstage. However, parents and family members must purchase tickets in advance in order to watch the show, including the show in which their daughter appears. NOTE: models will not be able to view the show they are modeling in. You must purchase tickets to a separate show with your child if she wants to watch the show from the audience.
All models will be asked to collect donations/pledges to support the charitable aspect of the show.
Models must arrive 1 hour prior to her selected show on March 23 or March 24. Shows are approximately 2 hours long. Scheduling note: March 24 is Palm Sunday.
The American Girl® dolls are diverse, therefore, girls of all races and cultures are encouraged to apply. If your child is not within the range of measurements listed above, there will be an additional opportunity to model at the shows. Your American girl can join the fun onstage during intermission as a guest model with purchase of a VIP Model Package. With purchase of a VIP Model Package, your American girl and her doll will walk the runway wearing a special Fashion Show T-shirt, which is hers to keep. Space is limited.
