A little about myself. . .

I grew up in Teaneck, NJ, and attended university at Johns Hopkins, studying Neuroscience and Creative Writing. I worked senior year and for 2 years after college with Dr. Stewart Mostofsky, a pediatric neurologist at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to study brain differences in children with disabilities. During this time I also played ukulele and sang for severely disabled children. I then began an MD/PhD program at the University of Pittsburgh. I completed my PhD in Neuroscience, using several different behavioral and brain imaging techniques to characterize normal brain development through adolescence. After completing my degrees, I completed a brief post-doctoral position studying brain differences in children born prematurely. I have now moved back to Baltimore to begin residency, where I will be doing 2 years of pediatrics at the University of Maryland followed by 4 years of Neurology and Neurodevelopmental Disabilities at the Kennedy Krieger Institute. I look forward to a career combining research and clinical activities focused on the development of children with disabilities. Family is very important to me, which includes: wife Margot, son Phil, dog Sally, cat Jeanne-Claude, and turtles Carl and Ike. I enjoy playing and listening to music, building electronic instruments, eating good food, and the ocean.
