The University of Maryland School of Medicine offers a three-year ACGME-accredited Fellowship Training in Cardiovascular Disease.

Each year we match 6 candidates to our general cardiovascular disease program.

Additional training in Interventional Cardiology, Structural Heart Intervention, and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology are offered as well.

Our comprehensive program provides a rigorous clinical training and a superb didactic curriculum.

The UM Heart and Vascular Center includes numerous expert faculty with specialists in bread and butter cardiology as well as niche areas including HOCM, Cardio-Oncology, Preventative Cardiology, and Pulmonary Hypertension.

Our program is exemplified by broad training in a wide range of cardiovascular pathology, high acuity illness, and a diverse patient demographic. Graduates leave competent in the management of complex cardiovascular disease patients, the ability to interpret and incorporate findings from multiple cardiovascular imaging modalities, and exposed to a leading-edge profile of procedures in the Cath and EP labs.

Our training vision encompasses the following ideals:

Individualized Training | Multi-Disciplinary Integration | Comprehensive Clinical Training | Specialized Faculty | Scholarship

COVID-19

This past year, along-side colleagues across the globe, our training program faced challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our institution and our divisional leadership continue to respond dynamically. Measures for a safe working environment, including training on donning and doffing of PPE and seamless mechanisms to procure PPE have been implemented.

Our current didactic training structure remains robust and has been adapted to the virtual space.

While not at pre-COVID volumes, our Cath and EP Lab continue to grow.

Please read this publication in JACC Case reports outlining our Divisional approach to COVID-19.
