Parkinson's Disease Clinical Staff

Karen Callison, RN, joined the Movement Disorders Center in January of 2016 as a Research Nurse Coordinator. She has 19 years of clinical coordination experience in multiple areas including Gastroenterology/Hepatology and Epilepsy. She is currently coordinating Studies in Parkinson’s Disease, Myasthenia Gravis, Multiple Sclerosis and Sarcoidosis.

Michelle Cines, RN, MS, joined the Movement Disorders Center in January of 2007 as a Research Nurse Coordinator. She has over 25 years of clinical coordination experience in many different disciplines. In addition to coordinating studies for Neurology and Cardiology, Ms. Cines is the Information and Referral Specialist for the American Parkinson’s Disease Association (APDA).

Christina Griffin, MS, CCRP, is the Clinical Division Manager for the University of Maryland Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center. She has been with the University of Maryland since March 2016. Christina provides faculty and staff with regulatory expertise and oversight for research studies and is dedicated to ensuring quality and patient safety. Her specialties include social science and biomedical clinical research coordination and state/federal research regulatory oversight. Christina is a respected clinical research professional with 15 years of experience in project design and implementation; grant reviewing; and research compliance oversight. She has a Master’s degree in Health Science.

Katrina Schrader, MA joined the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center in 2012. She has a graduate degree in Developmental Psychology and is a Clinical Research Specialist for the center. She has been working on various research projects throughout the neurology clinic and is currently focusing on the departmental research database. Katrina recently earned a graduate level certification in Research Ethics.

Sharon K. Powell, R.N., M.P.H., joined the Movement Disorders Division in April of 2006 and serves as a Nurse Educator and the Deep Brain Stimulation Coordinator.   She is a registered nurse with a Master’s in Public Health.  Her prior clinical and research experience has been in clinical drug trials, cognitive evaluations and memory enhancement.
