Educational Goals

The primary goals of the rotation are to provide the student with:

  • Basic knowledge that is needed for the resuscitation, diagnosis and treatment of trauma patients.

  • Instruction in the basic clinical skills needed to treat trauma patients, and an understanding of the continuum of care involved in the treatment of trauma patients; from the scene of injury through discharge to home or to a rehabilitation facility.

A secondary goal is provide a fundamental understanding of Maryland's statewide system of trauma care.

Primary and secondary educational goals are accomplished through clinical activities and a comprehensive academic program.

Structure

There are resident rotations available for surgeons and non-surgeons. Each rotation is scheduled for a minimum of 28 days. Start dates and scheduling are available through the Office of Physician Education at 410-328-3516.
