Biography:
Dr. Orenstein obtained her undergraduate degree in English and American literature from Brown University. She went on to complete a joint degree program in medicine and public health at George Washington University, receiving her medical degree with honors, while also being awarded membership into Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society. Prior to joining the faculty and returning to the University of Maryland, where she completed her residency training, Dr. Orenstein received additional subspecialty training through a unique program sponsored by the NIH in which she completed fellowships in both infectious diseases and critical care medicine.
Current Position: Full-Time Staff Physician in the Medical Intensive Care Unit
Research Interests: Her research relates to Pneumocystis jiroveci pneumonia and the use of molecular diagnostic tools to better understand its epidemiology.
