Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) is a procedure considered to be the most effective for opening blocked blood vessels that cause heart attacks. It is important that this therapy be given quickly after a heart attack is diagnosed.

The chart below shows the percentage of UMMC heart attack patients given PCI within 90 minutes of arrival, as compared to the national average.
