Angiotensin Converting Enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARBs) are medicines used to treat heart attacks, heart failure or a decreased function of the heart. This guideline calls for patients who have problems with the heart pumping enough blood to the other parts of the body to be prescribed one of these medicines when they are discharged from the hospital.

The chart below shows the percentage of UMMC heart failure patients who were prescribed an ACE inhibitor or ARB as compared to the national average.
