Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP): Preventative Antibiotic Received Within 1 Hour Prior to Surgical Procedure

Receiving an antibiotic within one hour prior to surgey reduces a patient's risk of experiencing wound infections.

The chart below shows the percentage of UMMC patients who were given an antibiotic within one hour prior to their surgeries to help prevent infection as compared to the national average.
