Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP): Preventative Antibiotics Selection for Surgical Incision

Research has shown that some antibiotics are more effective than others at preventing infections for certain types of surgery.

The chart below shows the percentage of UMMC patients who were given the most effective antibiotic to help prevent infection as a result of their particular surgeries as compared to the national average.
