Certain surgeries can increase patients' risk of developing blood clots. To prevent blood clots from forming, doctors often prescribe a specific treatment to be given to these patients within 24 hours before or after their surgery.
The chart below shows the percentage of UMMC surgery patients who received treatment to prevent blood clots from forming within the recommended timeframe as compared to the national average.
