Neurology Residency

Curriculum

Grand Rounds -- Wednesday at 9 a.m.

John M. Dennis Auditorium, Baltimore VA Medical Center. A broad array of topics covering neurology and the neurosciences presented by experts.

Clinical Case Conference/Clinical Pathology Conference/Morbidity & Mortality Conference -- Wednesday at 10 a.m.

Whenever possible, the presenting resident will discuss a case that is linked to the grand rounds topic.

Chairman's Rounds/Book Club -- Mondays at 11:30 a.m.

Gudelsky Tower 4th Floor Conference Room. A formal patient presentation and discussion led by the Chairman or his designee. Book club assignments are also discussed.

Morning Report -- Weekdays at 8 a.m.

Gudelsky Tower 4th Floor Conference Room. A fast-paced clinical conference in which current patient issues are discussed. On Thursdays, subspecialists lead the discussion.

Neuropathology -- Selected Wednesdays at 8 a.m.

Neuropathology Conference Room. A review presented by Dr. Castellani from the University of Maryland and Dr. Mena from the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology.

Didactic Lectures -- Wednesdays and Fridays at mid-day

Neurology classroom. The lectures constitute an 18 month curriculum addressing core topics in the neurosciences and neurology.

Clinical Specialty Conference -- Thursdays at 11:30 a.m.

Neurology classroom. These case conferences are hosted by subspecialty programs. They are designed to address both basic and challenging clinical scenarios.

Emergency Neurology -- Summer Wednesdays and Fridays

Neurology Classroom. A review of the management of neurological emergencies.

Epilepsy Conference -- Thursdays at 8:30 a.m.

Gudelsky Tower, Conference Room. A multidisciplinary review of recent, current, and planned epilepsy monitoring and surgery patients.

Stroke Conference -- Thursday at 12:30 p.m.

Neuroradiology Reading Room. A multidisciplinary conference addressing clinical and research issues in stroke and neurovascular disease.

Neurophysiology -- Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m.

Multiple Sclerosis -- First and third Thursdays at 11:30 a.m.

A comprehensive program in muliple sclerosis. Neurology classroom

Neuro-ophthalmology / neuro-radiology -- Selected Thursdays at 11:30 a.m.

An interdisciplinary conference based on neuro-ophthalmologic cases.

Journal Club -- Monthly during the academic year

A discussion of important recently published articles. A faculty member is present to comment.
