Support Groups

The University of Maryland Medical Center offers a variety of support groups for patients and their caregivers. Check the list below to find the appropriate support group.

Joslin Diabetes Circle Group
This group addresses concerns and questions surrounding coping and living with diabetes.
2nd Tuesday of every month
6:00-7:30 pm In the waiting area of the Joslin Diabetes Center

Heart and Lung Transplant Education and Support Group
The meetings feature a guest speaker and cover various topics of interest and time for questions and the opportunity to interact with other transplant patients.
2^nd Wednesday of every month

VA with the entrance on Fayette Street

Transplant Education Series
Educational group for Liver, Kidney, and Pancreas Transplant Patients. Targets Pre and Post transplant patients.
3^rd Tuesday of each month

Joe Jacques Support Group
The Support Group focuses on information, education, therapeutic vaccines, and cutting-edge research for those individuals who are battling AIDS or are HIV positive.
Meets every Tuesday
6:00-8:00pm at Institute of Human Virology, 725 W. Lombard Street (building labeled UMBI)

Jacques Initiative HIV Support Group
For inpatients who are HIV positive, and family and friends. Light refreshments to be served.
Meets every Wednesday

Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) Support Group
Offer psychosocial support to patients and caregivers of bone marrow transplants.
Meets every Wednesday
10:00-11:30 am in the 9 Gudelsky Conference Room off of the BMT unit

Hope Lodge Support Group
Support for patients and families staying at the Hope Lodge. These patients are from University of Maryland and surrounding hospitals.

Leukemia and Lymphoma Support Group
Topics vary…sometimes is educational with speakers and sometimes with group members sharing. This is a drop-in, ongoing support group.
