On November 10, 2011, UMMC received several awards from Living Legacy Foundation for our achievements in organ and tissue donation and transplantation. The LLF hosted their second annual Community Recognition Event to recognize hospitals and community partners for achievements in organ and tissue donation. UMMC is the first and only hospital in LLF's service area to achieve all of the Department of Health and Human Services criteria for organ donation earning our institution a Special Achievement award.

The successes recognized were made possible by all of our compassionate and talented teammates who work diligently to educate donor families about the donation process and assuage fears, preserve donor organs until transplantation and then successfully transplant and care for our grateful recipients.
