PCS Manager: Dee Engel-Oliva, R.N., B.S.N.

The Shock Trauma Center Outpatient Clinic provides follow-up care for the Shock Trauma patients and the UMMC General Surgery service patients in six exam rooms (one room is able to accommodate up to three patients). It serves as the entry point for most emergency readmissions during operating hours.

The Outpatient Clinic handles a large volume (200+ calls/month) of telephone triage calls for patients. Most patients come to the clinic as outpatients; however, the staff may visit the patients prior to discharge to assist with the coordination of complex patients requiring multiple outpatient services.

Additionally, patients from rehabilitation and extended care facilities return to the Outpatient Clinic, frequently by ambulance, for follow-up visits. Services are primarily provided in the Shock Trauma Outpatient Clinic on the first floor of the Shock Trauma Center.

Services are also provided, such as staff visiting inpatients on 6TAC, 4STA and the TRU. One hundred percent of the patients are outpatients. Hours of operation are from 8:00am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
