Continuing a strong tradition of thoracic surgical expertise and excellence, the University of Maryland's Department of Surgery has one of the largest general thoracic surgery programs in the country.

It is the clinical leadership and expertise of our general thoracic surgeons and a growing number of patients that allows us to create a division dedicated to the multifaceted specialty care of thoracic surgery patients. Our Division offers surgical management of benign and malignant diseases of the chest (thoracic). We offer multidisciplinary evaluations for most of the diseases we treat. Our physicians are experts in minimally invasive surgery for the lung, esophagus, thymus and other diseases of the chest.
