Founded in 1968, the University of Maryland Medical  Center's Transplant Program has established a national reputation for innovation and technical excellence.

We are a comprehensive center with transplantation capabilities in kidney, pancreas, simultaneous kidney-pancreas and liver, and are the first transplant center in the U.S. to perform 1,000 laparoscopic kidney donations.

Heart and lung transplants are performed by our cardiothoracic surgeons. We are also one of the world's biggest and busiest transplant centers, as our transplant team performs more than 250 transplants each year.

As part of the University of Maryland Medical Center, we utilize a multidisciplinary approach to patient care which exploits the enormous talent and broad resources of an outstanding academic medical/research center.
