Maryland Heart Center

PTE Patient Success Story: Margaret Martins

Overview

Margaret Martins suffered from a life-threatening form of pulmonary hypertension known as secondary pulmonary hypertension. From an emergency room in a Washington D.C. hospital, she was transferred to the University of Maryland Medical Center after her doctors did an Internet search to find someone who could perform a Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy. Through the search, they found Dr. Bartley Griffith, the University of Maryland Medical Center's chief of Cardiac Surgery and one of the few surgeons in the country performing this complex surgery. Hear what Margaret has to say about this procedure and how it changed her life.
