The Center for Weight Management & Wellness at University of Maryland offers a comprehensive surgical and medical approach to weight loss. Surgical therapy is a treatment option reserved for adults ages 18 to 60 who have a BMI over 40 (calculate your BMI) or for those who have a BMI between 35 and 40 and obesity-related medical complications, such as diabetes, significant cardiovascular disease, or sleep apnea. Those interested in surgery are invited to a free educational seminar conducted by Dr. Mark Kligman.
