ABI (Ankle-Brachial Index)
The ankle-brachial index (ABI) is a measurement that is useful to your physician in evaluating the adequacy of the circulation in your legs. It can also be used to follow the improvement or worsening of leg circulation over time.
How the test is performed:
- Measurements of your blood pressure in both of your ankles and arms.
- Your physician will use the two numbers as a ratio to determine your ABI.
How to prepare for the test:
- There is no preparation required for this test.
