Dr. Baer is a nationally recognized leader in leukemia treatment and research. Her clinical focus is leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes, and her research interests include understanding drug resistance in leukemia cells and the development of strategies for overcoming or bypassing mechanisms of resistance. Her overall goal is to improve the outcome of treatment for leukemia patients.

His research interests include the investigation of cellular pathways that speed cell growth in esophageal cancer. In addition to his expertise in lung and esophageal surgery, Dr. Battafarano specializes in minimally invasive surgical techniques such as video-assisted lobectomy. He also performs sympathectomy, a surgical treatment for excessive sweating known as hyperhidrosis.

Dr. Cullen is a nationally recognized oncology doctor. His research interests include cellular factors that promote the growth of cancer and molecular mechanisms that make some cancers resistant to treatment with chemotherapy. His honors include a special achievement award from the National Cancer Institute. He was named one of Washington’s best physicians by Washingtonian magazine. He has been the director of the Greenebaum Cancer Center since 2004.

Dr. Temkin is a specialist in gynecologic oncology, and complex gynecologic surgery, including robotic surgery. In fact, she was the first gynecologic oncologist in the state of Illinois to operate using the da Vinci robotic system.
