The Division of Gynecologic Oncology focuses on the treatment of women with pre-cancerous or cancerous problems of the reproductive tract.

We offer comprehensive care, including surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, designed to meet the needs of women with known or suspected gynecologic cancers. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team of radiation oncologists, pathologists, advanced practice nurses and psychologists within the University of Maryland Medical Center and the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center, the Division of Gynecologic Oncology provides a patient-centered approach to cancer care.

Our patients have access to the most current research trials and the latest treatment strategies, many of which may only be available regionally at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center. These treatments are offered on both an inpatient and outpatient basis. Screening and surveillance programs are offered for women with breast cancer, women at risk of ovarian cancer, uterine cancer or cervical cancer and women with abnormal Pap smears, ovarian cysts or masses.

Recognizing that the diagnosis of cancer affects more than one individual, counseling and psychological support services are offered for patients and their families. The Division of Gynecologic Oncology holds an affiliate membership with the Gynecologic Oncology Group, the only national cooperative group dedicated to the treatment of cancers of the female reproductive tract.
