La angioplastia es un procedimiento que se utiliza para abrir arterias angostas o bloqueadas por depósitos de placa. Si el bloqueo no es importante, el problema puede ser corregido inflando el balón varias veces para comprimir la placa contra las paredes arteriales, lo que amplía el pasaje para que la sangre pueda pasar a través de él.
