World Leaders in Noninvasive Movement Disorder Treatment
In partnership with the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UM SOM), UMMC was among an international group of investigators studying a new noninvasive treatment, MRI-guided focused ultrasound. Recently approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the treatment was found to significantly improve tremors and quality of life in patients with essential tremor (ET), the most common movement disorder.
