Cancer survivor Lou Schwarz and wife Vicki: read his Trilogy success story

The TrilogyTM System is the most advanced, versatile machine of its type in the world. As the leading image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT) system, Trilogy marks the beginning of a new generation of cancer care, combining the capabilities of TomoTherapy, Cyberknife and Novalis all in one machine.

Trilogy is allowing UMGCCC radiation oncologists to deliver higher doses of radiation to tumors in shorter time, while minimizing the damage to surrounding normal tissues and organs. That means our doctors can offer patients the most appropriate treatment modality for treating their particular form of cancer, whether in the body or the brain.

The TrilogyTM System can deliver radiotherapy doses at least 60 percent faster than conventional technologies. This shortens the length of time patients need to spend undergoing treatment. In addition, the radiation beam is highly precise, allowing clinicians to deliver treatments with unprecedented accuracy.

With Trilogy, our doctors have the option to treat small lesions using stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), which is delivered in a single treatment, or stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), which is delivered over a period of a few days.

Trilogy can also be used for traditional radiation therapy, which is delivered in daily small doses over a period of weeks.

The versatile TrilogyTM System combines imaging and treatment technologies, and can be used to deliver the widest range of external beam radiotherapies, including:

  • Stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT)
  • Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT)
  • 3D conformal radiotherapy
  • Fractionated stereotactic radiation therapy (SRT)
