Our Center for Advanced Fetal Care offers the most advanced techniques of prenatal screening for low risk and high risk pregnancies. The Section of Fetal Therapy is one of a handful of programs in the nation that offers the most advanced diagnostic and therapeutic options for medical and surgical conditions of the unborn child. The Center also incorporates the Fetal Heart Program, consisting of a team of healthcare providers who provide detailed evaluation, counseling and treatment for fetal heart problems that may occur during pregnancy. The Prenatal Genetic Counseling Program offers comprehensive genetic counseling for a variety of reasons. If a pregnancy is at an increased risk to have a birth defect, a genetic disorder or a chromosome abnormality, the genetic counselors work as part of the CAFC team to help diagnose and manage the condition.
Our Complex Obstetric Surgery multidisciplinary program focuses on managing all aspects of high-risk surgeries in obstetrics in the current modern era of maternal fetal medicine. The program will insure the identification of patients at risk and management of patients using a multidisciplinary team approach
Our High-Risk Obstetrics Service assists expectant mothers with special concerns during pregnancy or who have a history of complicated pregnancy. Mothers-to-be are counseled regarding weight problems, high blood pressure, predisposing factors that could lead to early labor and other health issues that may affect pregnancy. Our telemedicine program brings our expertise to an area near you in the convenience of your provider’s office.
The University of Maryland Medical Center is also a leader in critical care obstetrics.
