Letter from Dr. Scalea
I am grateful that you share our commitment to give every person who arrives at Shock Trauma state-of-the-art care and the best possible chance not just to survive, but to do so with the best functional outcome. Last year 8,500 people in Maryland arrived at our door. We are the trauma hospital that is specifically designated to treat the most critically injured people. Approximately 97% of our patients survived. Injury is a disease that has no age, gender, social, economic or racial boundaries. These are people who get up each day, leave their home for work or school, and end up at Shock Trauma.
We stretch each day to expand our capacity to help as we work toward the opening of the new Shock Trauma Critical Care Tower. The new building will be state-of-the-art trauma care, teaching and research. We will also enhance our partnership with the military and continue to accept into our care the sickest and most critically injured people in Maryland.
For as little as $20 a month, you can strengthen the “safety net” that envelops all those in Maryland. As a Life Partner, you will be among the most powerful Shock Trauma supporters that help us sustain unparalleled, lifesaving care. For just $20.00 per month -- about 66 cents a day -- you will be helping us to do more, and be more, every minute of every day.
As our Life Partner, you will be honored and recognized on our web site and your name will be prominently displayed in our new Shock Trauma Tower. You will become part of a growing list of partners who will build the vision of the future for the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
Please help us with your lifesaving gift. Every contribution significantly impacts our ability to expand and sustain our mission. Shock Trauma is a gift from the people of Maryland to the people of Maryland.
Please accept my heartfelt thanks for your partnership and our ongoing relationship.
